The Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient education. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery and manage treatment of patients with both acute and chronic conditions presentations, to include pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions. The Nurse Practitioner will maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Requirements

  • A current, valid, and unrestricted state license as ARNP, APRN, CNS, or licensed with equivalent or similar privileges (e.g., P.A.).
  • Completion of a graduate program in a Primary Care clinical discipline, such as FNP, AGNP, or ENP.
  • Hold DEA Registration or be willing to obtain DEA Registration.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of clinical practice desired; with 1-2 years in a correctional healthcare or underserved population setting preferred. Clinical rotations during training meet this experience.
  • Experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in a managed care or correctional facility setting is highly preferred.
  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required prior to Start Date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to inmates in accordance with established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Perform assessments, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication and ordering appropriate tests.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical information/history, upholding HIPAA regulations and medical ethics.
  • Participate in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and ensure they are followed in a timely manner.
  • Provide on-call services as needed, including after-hours care, as directed by the facility or company requirements.
  • Promote good working relationships within the medical team and other departments to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards by consistently completing thorough and accurate clinical tasks.
  • Participate in medical activities that foster growth and development for both medical professionals and patient care.
  • Respect and adhere to the facility's safety, infection control, and operational policies, ensuring a safe and effective healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to ensure smooth operations, resolution of issues, and enhanced patient care delivery.
