About The Position

Registered Nurse Manager, Emergency Department Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day shift Cumberland Medical Center Overview: Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest nonprofit health system and a Becker’s “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare.” Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Cumberland Medical Center is an acute care hospital offering all private patient rooms as well as comprehensive care including cardiology, orthopedics, maternity, cancer treatment, and wound care. The hospital features emergency and critical care, surgical suites, and specialized programs such as imaging, cardiac rehab, sleep disorder care, and hyperbaric medicine, all in a family-oriented environment focused on exceptional patient care. Position Summary: Is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program required; possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred (required within 3 years in position or effective date of job description).
  • Three (3) years of recent clinical experience.
  • Current state registered nurse license.
  • RN License

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of leadership/managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Models the standards and behaviors of Covenant Health.
  • Selects, trains, orients, develops and evaluates performance of the department staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures compliance with the Joint Commission standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices.
  • Develops departmental budgets. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters.
  • Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
  • Attends meetings and actively participates on nursing committees and interdisciplinary committees, as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility.
  • Ensures establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system.
  • Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
  • Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
  • Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, knowledge of current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, and membership of a professional organization.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
  • Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
