About The Position

The Nurse Manager provides leadership and oversight for clinical operations across all practice locations. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, efficient clinical workflows, and alignment with organizational goals. The Nurse Manager serves as a key liaison between providers, clinical staff, and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Must have a nursing degree and be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
  • Must have seven 5-7 years of nursing experience, including experience as a charge nurse, nurse supervisor, or nurse manager.
  • Must possess an advance knowledge of clinic workflows and processes of a multi-physician, multi-location physician practice.
  • Must have an extensive comprehension of sound nursing practice and techniques.
  • Must show knowledge of OSHA and safety guidelines applicable to healthcare settings.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to create and manage budget for UCA’s clinical needs, meeting with suppliers and vendors to ensure the most cost-effective solutions are obtained.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to lead, influence and have direct authority for multiple disciplines across various departments to ensure that strategic goals of UCA are communicated and executed efficiently.
  • Must display the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with all UCA Team Members, including physicians, Administrative Team, and Board of Directors, and be able to present difficult or sensitive topics in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Must display superior interpersonal skills and be able to maintain composure in high stress situations.
  • Must have an advanced understanding of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant computer programs.
  • Must display the ability to generate and encourage creative ideas and innovative thinking to produce imaginative solutions to issues or problems.
  • Must have superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
  • Must maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in Science Nursing (MSN) degree.
  • Prior urology practice experience.
  • Prior oncology experience in hospital or clinical setting.
  • Prior experience leading multiple clinical disciplines to success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, inspire, and evaluate all clinical team members of UCA.
  • Screen, interview, hire, discipline, and terminate, in conjunction with HR, all clinical team members.
  • Supervise onboarding education and orientation for all clinical team members.
  • Supervise staffing of weekly schedule of nursing staff for all physicians/providers for all office locations.
  • Ensure that physician’s schedules are provided with experienced clinical team members to run and manage clinic.
  • Supervise daily, even hourly, staffing for both AM and PM clinic, adjusting for call-ins, delays, and/or early departures of clinical team members.
  • Monitor and approve all clinical team members’ time and attendance and conduct counseling and disciplinary action for team members incurring time and attendance issues.
  • Ensure overtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Address behavior and performance concerns with clinical team members, escalating complex issues of concern to HR, up to and including termination.
  • Meet one-on-one with clinical team members on a regular basis to build relationships and trust that lead to staff retention.
  • Maintain open-door policy to promote open lines of communication and accessibility.
  • Coordinate implementation of new and/or changes to existing clinical protocols with appropriate physician(s), medical director(s), clinical team members, and other appropriate personnel, and disseminate to communicate new protocols or changes to all involved parties prior to implementation date.
  • Interact with physicians to resolve problems & improve clinical efficiencies.
  • Make recommendations to the CEO and Board regarding proposed quality initiatives, best practice standards, and potential areas of increased efficiencies or identified wastes, risk management concerns, or areas of improvement.
  • Lead internal UCA Safety Team to ensure all clinical areas are compliant with OSHA standards.
  • Provide required onboarding and annual training OSHA for all UCA team members.
  • Maintain OSHA records as related to training and equipment at all offices.
  • Complete OSHA-required reporting.
  • Update annual Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan, Hazard Communication Policy, and Respiratory Protection Plan as required by OSHA.
  • Provide annual education for all FDA REMS programs.
  • Coordinate and schedule CPR recertification prior to expiration for all UCA clinical team members and other team members interested in certification.
  • Purchase and provide training to all clinical staff and practitioners on mobility devices used to provide access to medical care for patients with mobility disabilities required by the ADA.
  • Monitor and ensures medical waste is in compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.
  • Report violations of waste and/or exposure swiftly to appropriate entities, and complete required reporting of event(s).
  • Provide requested reports for CEO, President, Medical Directors, Finance, etc. as requested.
  • Assimilates task force as needed to address systemic issues or issues impacting multiple departments and/or disciplines.
  • Ensure all satellite offices are appropriately set up with accounts for ordering controlled substances.
  • Supervise all DEA licensing requirements for ordering and storing controlled substances.
  • Conduct routine reviews of controlled substance inventory log and security at all UCA locations.
  • Review & compare prices of all equipment, supplies and medications to achieve best possible price.
  • Notifies providers and clinical team members of items on backorder or recall and provides alternative solutions.
  • Review GPO updates to ensure UCA is utilizing available contract pricing for purchasing.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and medications at cost-effective levels.
  • Work with site coordinators to ensure each UCA location has appropriate quantities of supplies, equipment, and medications.
  • Coordinate and arrange annual OSHA-required Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections for all equipment at all locations.
  • Ensure clinical equipment is operative, in proper working order, and relevant team members are trained on use of equipment. Any defects or abnormalities are addressed immediately with the appropriate equipment representatives.
  • Source, evaluate, and recommend the need for replacement, or upgrade of clinical equipment, and locate the most cost-efficient purchase possible.
  • Ensure that clinical team members’ licensure or credentials are up-to-date and appropriate for the position.
  • Meet quarterly with satellite offices to provide updates about the company, discuss changes within the organization, listen and address their areas of concern, and keep communication lines open.
  • Meet quarterly, or more often if needed, with Site Coordinators at all satellite offices to promote communication and consistency within the Clinical Team and Nursing Department.
  • Maintain and update Clinical Policies.
  • Meet monthly with nursing department.
  • Meet monthly with Nursing Leadership Team to outline vision, purpose, and goals, and to address staffing, workflow, and processes.
  • Create, revise, and/or review forms used for procedures, patient education, consents, etc., to ensure they are updated, relevant and meet best practice standards.
  • Attend Monthly Medical Directors Meeting.
  • Order and maintain prescription pads for each satellite office and/or department.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned or required.
