About The Position

Primary Purpose : Direct, coordinate, and work cooperatively with the Medical Director and agency staff in the operational management of the residential programs. Manage, supervise, and evaluate medical subordinate staff. Interprets and meets regulatory program qualifications as defined by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and other regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • NYS Registered Nurse Certificate, NYS Nurse Practitioner or Q.H.P. required, and CPR certification.
  • Degree in Nursing, or Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field; or degree in Substance Abuse Counseling.
  • Must have a minimum of five years nursing experience, and three years progressive supervisory or related experience.
  • Must have experience in the field of alcoholism and substance abuse.
  • Strong leadership qualities and managerial skills.
  • Working knowledge of OASAS regulations, fiscal and statistical reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Ability to effectively represent the ACCA diverse communities.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and effectively handle conflicts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Software: Word, Excel, Internet, Email Programs.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in screening of clients, gathering of necessary admission information/data, and observation of physical, mental, and emotional status of admitted residential clients.
  • Assesses for medical supervised withdrawal and stabilization services that are appropriate for clients who are intoxicated by alcohol and/or substances, who are experiencing, or who are expected to experience withdrawal symptom that require medical oversight.
  • Provides clinical direction to nursing staff ensuring that treatment progress, review intake and discharge planning are conducted according to ACCA policies and that all documentation is completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manages, supervises, develops, trains, and evaluates program staff ensuring that all standards and regulations are met.
  • Makes regular site visits to all residential buildings and outpatient clinic.
  • Facilitates the continuum of services within the ACCA with other Program Directors and providers to ensure a high-quality continuum of care.
  • Maintains continued readiness of Program site for OASAS or other regulatory bodies for inspection.
  • Ensures confidentiality and safety/security of all residential clients and the facility.
  • Provides medical on-call on a rotating basis.
  • Knowledge of symptoms, treatment alternatives, and drug properties and interactions of patients who are intoxicated or under the influence of illegal substances.
  • Prepares necessary reports/records as required by program procedure.
  • Assumes responsibility for managing and reporting incidents.
  • Make calls to local ambulance service, fire department, police, or CDPC, as needed.
