Our 88-bed, acute-care hospital provides exceptional medical care to patients from Allen, Lucas, Fairview, McKinney, Melissa, Wylie, and nearby communities. We specialize in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, advanced cardiology, electrophysiology, orthopedic and spine treatments, as well as comprehensive women's and infant care. As an Accredited Chest Pain Center and STEMI-receiving facility, over 500 physicians practice across more than 25 specialties at our hospital. Texas Health Allen proudly holds multiple prestigious certifications, including Joint Commission Gold Seal Certification as a Chest Pain facility, Level II Maternal and NICU designations, recognition as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Pathways to Excellence designation, and Joint Commission Acute Heart Attack Ready (AHAR) Disease-specific certification. Labor and Delivery Our 8 spacious labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum suites comfortably accommodate birthing families in one place and 2 OR Suites inside The Family Birthplace. The Family Birthplace is our newly opened unit that promises to be warm and inviting and offers a fresh and comfortable environment designed to enhance the birth experience. 24/7 Midwife Hospitalist coverage. We are designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization, the first hospital in Texas to earn the honor, a Mother-Friendly Worksite and a Pathway to Excellence® hospital. Antepartum / Recovery Our antepartum and recovery area is a 5 bed unit located inside The Family Birthplace. Great opportunity to partner with board-certified maternal-fetal specialists on the medical staff, pastoral care, social services, case managers, dietitians and on-staff neonatal physicians. We are designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization, the first hospital in Texas to earn the honor, a Mother-Friendly Worksite and a Pathway to Excellence® hospital. NICU Our 6 bed Level II NICU (28 weeks gestation) is located inside The Family Birthplace that provides the opportunity to collaborate with our neonatalogists, pediatric sub-specialists and neonatal nurse practitioners. We provide our patients and their families, Angel Eyes Web Cameras and open access for Parents. We are designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization, the first hospital in Texas to earn the honor, a Mother-Friendly Worksite and a Pathway to Excellence® hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
  • 3 Years Experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e., charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor, supervisor) Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • Knowledge of industry standards:organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, financial analysis, budget process and planning, accreditation and regulatory standards, strategic planning principles, ability to assess nursing care requirements based on nursing principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.

  • Supervisory or Managerial experience Strongly Preferred
  • NRP a Plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and delegate activities as required for safe, efficient, and effective operation of the unit including active participation with other hospital departments and leadership to accomplish this purpose.
  • Provide resources and guidance to support the utilization of evidence based practice standards.
  • Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to staff.
  • Facilitate activities that prepare unit, environment, and staff to meet credentialing bodies requirements.
  • Identify key drivers in throughput process, evaluate areas role, and develop solutions to barriers.
  • Plan, manage, patient care processes to improve performance.
  • Facilitate delivery of quality patient care.
  • Require documentation that meets hospital and credentialing standards/policy/guidelines.
  • Demonstrates positive supportive role in change process.
  • Responsible for staffing based on patient care needs.
  • Responsible for personnel functions including staff, performance reviews and corrective action.
  • Promote professional growth and development of all employees.
  • Recognize and reward individual and team accomplishments.
  • Promote staff retention.
  • Facilitate new staff orientation.
  • Supports shared decision-making through the unit-based council.
  • Incorporate customer needs and expectations into daily operations and business planning strategies.
  • Promote team building strategies and principles of group process in interaction with staff.
  • Prepares operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Manages approved operating and capital budgets effectively and adjusts strategies as needed to meet budget expectations.
  • Identifies and evaluates patient care requirements and outcomes based upon patient acuity, system and budgetary guidelines.
  • Demonstrates involvement in professional organization.
  • Participates in hospital/department/system committees.
  • Stays current with professional activities.
  • Alerts appropriate individuals regarding ethical and legal concerns (i.e. Risk Manager, Compliance Officer, Director).
  • Educates, promotes and evaluates appropriate use of chain of command by staff.
  • Acts as a role model/mentor.
  • Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Complies with hospital policies and with Nurse Practice Act.
  • Active in Reach Out THR and other community activities.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to Peer Review.
  • Participates in 360 degree evaluations.
  • Creates development plan that identifies and addresses areas of needed growth.
  • Completes reports in a timely manner. Utilizes various resources for development.
