About The Position

Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126 bed, private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center, located in a picturesque suburban setting, fully accredited (by the Joint Commission), has been providing quality health care to adult, child and adolescent northeastern USA residents, since 1902.Summit Oaks has repeatedly been recognized in U.S. News & World Report, as one of the nation's best behavioral health hospitals. This is a full-time position for a Nurse Manager on our TU3 - Adult Psych Unit. This is a five day a week, 40 hours per week position Monday through Friday. Under the supervision of the CNO the Nurse Manager will be responsible for the management of patient care to ensure optimum quality patient care is provided by nursing staff on a 24 hour basis. Monitors the delivery of patient care. Collaborates with Medical Staff and Department Managers to ensure needs of the total service are met. Foster and promote open communications. Assists in the assessment of potential new patient referrals. When Patient Advocate is unavailable facilitates resolution of complaints or grievances/requests by patients and visitors in accordance to legal and regulatory requirements. Responsible and accountable for making decisions related to the structure, coordination and resources required to deliver cost-effective professional nursing care 24 hours per day. Performance Improvement activities that support the overall efficiency of the nursing department. Participates in the hiring, promotion, discipline and evaluation of unit staff, as well as, the orientation of new staff to the unit and ongoing educational development of unit staff. Requirements

  • Licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of three years of hospital-based nursing.
  • Minimum of two years experience in psychiatric nursing required.
  • BSN or BS in related health field. Will consider applicant in the active process of obtaining a bachelor's degree with employment experience.
  • Past experience should include supervision of staff.
  • Current CPR certification Required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • ANCC certification in the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing preferred.
