About The Position

As our Medical Surgical Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, often from specialized service lines like cardiac, orthopedic, or critical care, continuously building your education and experience. Every day you will perform patient assessments, administer medications, manage complex care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, adapting to rapidly changing needs in a fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, you will possess an enthusiastic, patient-first mindset, keen assessment skills, critical thinking, and a sense of urgency, thriving in a dynamic clinical setting where no two days are alike.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school ofnursing.
  • Two (2) years RN Med/Surg experience.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • The registered nurse completes initial patient assessment and reassessments as indicated by patient condition, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking by implementing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • The registered nurse has the physical ability to safely and effectively care for patient population assigned and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • The registered nurse manages medication administration and intravenous (IV) access according to physician's orders and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • The registered nurse documents nursing care and patient status in accordance with the nursing process and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
  • The registered nurse has communication abilities sufficient to promote patient and family centered care by interacting with patients, families, and care-delivery team in verbal and written form and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
