Nurse Extern Dates: May 4th - July 11th This program is an exciting opportunity for a ten-week work experience that allows you to put your classroom learning to a hands-on setting in a nursing unit. You will work under the guidance of an assigned preceptor. This is a great way to jump-start your senior year and your job search. Requirements for application to the program: GPA of 2.5 or higher (official transcript required) Entering into senior year of an accredited RN program. Two letters of recommendation with at least one being from a nursing school instructor. Candidates are not eligible for this program if they are committed to post graduate employment at another health care system outside of Baptist Health. Externs must be able to work full time during their first week of employment and then must commit to a minimum of 24 hour per week (12 hour shifts) during the externship. Participants may have one week off during the program, but must commit to no other time off in order to ensure maximum benefit from the experience.
