About The Position

Develops plans and presents educational activities within areas of expertise and directly or indirectly fosters the development of competence in the learner. Facilitates and influences the necessary policies and procedures. Assists individuals and groups in defining problems. Manages overall program activities. Ensures that educational activities are congruent with the organization’s mission, vision and values. Models behaviors that reflect participation and leadership in activities within the organization, such as serving in key roles on committees and administrative teams. Coordinates with CNO, Nurse Managers and the Directors for Adult, Adolescent/Child Clinical Services for annual competency training. Assists Human Resources in annual paperwork clinic ensures all employees complete required annual hospital training, with supporting documentation in the employee personnel files. Coordination of Crisis Prevention and Intervention and CPR. Ensures that recertification classes are held and class rosters are sent to the corresponding agency for certification registration. Participates in ongoing infection control educational programs for employees, including TB, HIV/Hep/Universal Precautions. May educate patients as necessary. Continually assesses the educational needs of staff members in the delivery of patient care. Educating employees about infection prevention and the development of health system policies and procedures to insure high infection control standards meet JCAHO, OSHA, CDC and other nationally organized agencies recommendations and requirements. Manages employee health initiatives such as maintaining employee health files, annual employee TB screenings/chest x-rays, employee Hepatitis vaccines. Identifies areas of ongoing performance improvement opportunities. Works with Director of PI to educate staff regarding changes to policy and procedure. Works with the hospital leadership team to develop and to train the educational requirements generated from a regulatory agency plan of correction. Collects data on infections for specific criteria. Ensures quality and safety in patient care and delivery of high quality care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Two years minimum clinical experience in acute care setting.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
  • RN License to practice professional registered nursing in the state of Texas.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral and diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in many different situations.
  • Must possess public speaking, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Must have knowledge of curriculum development procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of performance improvement/quality principles and competency-based training.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in Science in Nursing degree or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years clinical experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in clinical nursing teaching, curriculum design, course development in a nursing academic organization and/or staff development preparation and delivery in acute healthcare setting or clinical environment.
