About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, employee will plan, organize, develop, and coordinate all educational programs in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Nurse Educator contributes direct education and training to Direct Care Staff for the overall quality of resident care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse A.S.N or B.S.N preferred; must have a current, active, and unrestricted license as a professional nurse.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant bedside nursing experience (for professional nurses).
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in health education and training program development, instruction, adult education classroom teaching experience, and education assessment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide written reports and staff training/workshop schedules to Director of Nursing for input and approval.
  • Coordinate in-service activities and educational programs for Direct Care Staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • With departmental input, develop, coordinate, evaluate, and facilitate or deliver educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures always ensuring quality.
  • Conduct as part of new employee orientation, an assessment of the training and education needs for Direct Care new employees. Utilizing data and results obtained from employee orientations, develop an overall annual education and training plan that will be shared with Director of Nursing.
  • Conduct a comprehensive education and training assessment on an annual basis or more frequently as deemed appropriate.
  • Provide information Director of Nursing regarding changes in policies, new procedures, etc. to keep Direct Care Staff current on new practices.
  • Provide and maintain the availability of Relias for staffs additional education.
  • Secure, develop, and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc. pertinent to education programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting the TONCA operations.
  • Ensure that Direct Care Staff are informed, understand, and comply with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations.
  • Attend and/or report to assigned meetings.
  • Perform any supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization.
