Position Summary: The Clinical Educator II provides staff development expertise in their assigned specialty as an educator, expert clinician, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, patient advocate and researcher. The Educator will assess the learning needs of staff through testing, direct observation, interviews and coordination with Nursing Director. Identified deficits in skills and knowledge will be addressed through one on one and group training sessions. The Educator will develop and implement annual unit based competencies. Competencies will be determined via trends, learning needs, clinical indicators and other sources as identified by the organization. The Perioperative Educator works as a preceptor and coordinates with additional preceptors for new and transferring staff and for those under remediation. Must maintain clinical competency, which includes the ability to provide primary/direct patient care, cover routine call shifts, and staff call-shift training. May participate in house-wide education and patient education programs. Each supports the clinical and professional development of their staff, with a goal of achieving excellence in the delivery of evidence based nursing practice. The Clinical Educator II facilitates the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency, continuing education and professional development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Clinical Educator II assists in creating a professional nursing climate and supports the SRDH mission, vision and values. The ability to work autonomously and in coordination with the Clinical Educators is essential. Reporting relationship: Direct reporting to Nursing Director in assigned specialty with an indirect reporting to the Director of Education.
