About The Position

Nurse Educator, Baystate Medical Practices The Nurse Educator, utilizing innovative and flexible solutions (including leveraging information technology and simulation to enhance and streamline education), evidence-based practice, and effective operations, is responsible for establishing an environment that transforms professional growth, role competence and proficiency. The Nurse Educator facilitates the achievement of professional/clinical outcomes with all assigned staff and/or patient populations. In collaboration with managers and quality leaders, the Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring excellence in patient safety and quality, creating a culture of safety, and leading the development of staff competence and nursing professional practice. He/she enhances the quality of nursing practice and patient care by functioning as a consultant, QI/PI/research leader, and educator throughout the Division

Requirements

• Master’s Degree Required: A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN), MSN or master’s degree in health-related field if BSN.
• RN Massachusetts (required).
• At least three years of clinical experience in the specialty area
• Experience in education, staff development, or clinical instruction
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design
• Demonstrated ability to lead, transform, and direct staff
• Adult learning principles and practices
• Learner needs assessment and curriculum development/planning
• Experience planning and executing evidence-based practice improvement
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart AssociationAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Heart Association
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Certification in Specialty - OtherOtherOther

Responsibilities

• Establishes and contributes to the development of annual goals and objectives
• Provides leadership and direction to staff in the achievement of special project goals and objectives
• Functions as a consultant to all members of the health care team in professional practice, education, and improvement.
• Develops clinical resources and guidelines.
• Provides ongoing educational and emotional support to nursing staff in clinical decision-making and problem-solving.
• Identifies education and professional practice needs and utilizes a variety of resources to meet the needs
• Utilizes theories and principles of learning and nursing science to foster the attainment of knowledge for clinical staff
• Demonstrates commitment to nursing innovation and improvement
• Collaborates with nursing staff, QA Committee, colleagues, and peers to identify and promote and enhance the quality of patient care
• Functions as a consultant for professional practice for all Ambulatory Nursing.
• Provides nursing consultation to members of the health care team to enhance patient care.
• Engages in ongoing communication with the staff
• Servs as a leader, initiator and facilitator in the development of programs and activities which enhance the quality of patient care
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to define strategies for educational initiatives related to quality improvement.
• Participates with staff to identify the need for change in the delivery of patient care as demonstrated by personal log and related material.
• Utilizes theory when developing, implementing and/or evaluating projects as evidenced by personal log and related materials.
• Demonstrates leadership in the facilitation of staff efforts to create change as evidenced by personal log and related materials.
