About The Position

This position is responsible for the development, coordination, and teaching of the Nursing Departmental orientation program and for performing unit-based orientation. This position serves as the Nurse Educator/Preceptor for all new RN’s and LPNs. The position also performs competency checkoffs for Professional Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Health Care Technicians. The position serves as a resource for increasing performance in staff requiring assistance in reaching their potential within their job role. Work schedule is primarily 8:00am to 5:00pm when assigned to Educator/Preceptor duties. Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as needed to provide training and complete Educator/Preceptor duties.

Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
One year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Knowledge and skill in group theory/dynamics, nursing process and practice
Working knowledge of adult learning principles, teaching techniques, and public speaking
Ability to effectively teach nursing staff and other employees as appropriate through orientation and on-the-go job training
