About The Position

The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, a skilled nursing and independent living community, is actively seeking candidates for Nurse Assistant/CNA positions. This is a non-supervisory position that provides assigned residents with quality routine daily nursing care.

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Aide in PA or eligibility pending.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Records all entries on flow sheets, charts, etc., accurately, informatively and descriptively.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents and changes in resident’s condition observed on the shift that they occur to the charge nurse as soon as practical.
  • Reviews care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident’s daily care routine have been made on the care plan ensuring that your notes reflect that the care plan is being followed.
  • Ensures that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
  • Greets and escorts residents to their rooms and makes them comfortable.
  • Introduces resident to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate.
  • Inventories, marks, and stores residents’ personal possessions as instructed.
  • Assists residents with packing personal possessions, loading and unloading when transferred to new rooms or when discharged; transports to new rooms or receiving area.
  • Participates in and receives the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
  • Assists residents with bath functions, dressing properly and comfortably and undressing as necessary, and keeping residents dry.
  • Assists residents with personal care needs including hair care functions, nail care, and daily dental and mouth care.
  • Makes beds neatly and change bed linens. Keeps linens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under the resident. Puts extra covers on beds as requested.
  • Assists in preparing and transporting residents for medical tests and activities.
  • Assists with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., turns bedfast residents at least every two hours.
  • Measures and records temperatures, pulse, and respirations (TPRs), and weigh and measure residents as instructed.
  • Checks residents routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met.
  • Provides daily Range of Motion Exercises; record data as instructed.
  • Serves food trays, assists with feeding, and identifies food arrangements.
  • Serves between meal and bedtime snacks as instructed.
  • Records residents’ food/fluid intake and changes in residents’ eating habits.
  • Performs after meal care.
