About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for providing patients with radioactive medication and operating imaging technology to track the radiation within the patient’s body. Their duties include preparing and administrating radiopharmaceuticals, preparing patients for a scan and processing image reports that indicate the presence of disease. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work closely with the Cardiologist and Nurse Practitioner.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) recognized nuclear medicine technology program
  • Competent in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine
  • Current ARRT Registration or NMT Certification (Required)
  • New York State Nuclear Medicine Technologist License
  • Maintains appropriate CE credits as per the ARRT or NMT
  • Excellent communication and team-oriented skills
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist: 1 year (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual English & Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing medically prescribed myocardial perfusion imaging (Nuclear Stress Test).
  • Follows accepted radiologic procedures and uses medical information to determine type of protocol required for radiographic examination.
  • Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Reconstruct raw data into diagnostic images and send to Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Assist the Physician or Nurse Practitioner during test.
  • Performs visual and manual quality control checks of Nuclear Medicine equipment including monitors used for routine dictation/reading of clinical images.
  • Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
  • Follow safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients.
  • Monitor and watch for any unusual reactions patients may have to drugs.
  • Maintains adequate records of radioisotope receipt, uses, storage, and disposal in accordance with State and Federal regulations governing the accountability of radioactive materials.
  • Maintains other records as directed.
  • Follow safety and disposal radiation procedures.
