About The Position

We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, also referred to as a Nuclear Med Tech. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic treatments using radioactive materials. They help in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions by providing valuable information about the structure and function of organs and tissues within the body using nuclear medicine imaging techniques. Their expertise in radioactive materials, imaging technology, patient care, and radiation safety contributes to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in our hospital. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed. Shift's Available:  Variable Employment Type: Per Diem (PD/PRN) Hours: Variable Location: Mission Regional Medical Center

Requirements

  • Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, A.R.R.T. or N.M.T.C.B. Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is required.
  • Graduate of a program accredited by ARRT.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) required.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of acute, clinical radiology experience is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist preferred
  • Knowledge of mobile and stationary Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing more complex patient cases and providing specialized care to patients with unique medical needs or conditions, this could involve collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop tailored imaging plans and treatment strategies
  • Operate ultrasound machines to produce real-time images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow, select appropriate imaging techniques and settings to capture clear and accurate images based on the specific clinical indication or area of interest
  • Use a handheld transducer (probe) to transmit high-frequency sound waves into the body and capture the returning echoes to create images, manipulate the transducer and adjust imaging parameters to obtain multiple views and optimize image quality
  • Interpret ultrasound images in real-time to assess the structure, size, shape, and function of organs and tissues within the body, identify any abnormalities, lesions, or pathology that may be present and communicate findings to radiologists or referring physicians
  • May perform Doppler ultrasound studies to evaluate blood flow patterns and detect abnormalities such as vascular occlusions, stenosis, or thrombosis
  • Proficient in using advanced imaging techniques and technologies, such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound, or ultrasound-guided procedures (biopsies, aspirations, injections, thoracentesis, and paracentesis procedures)
  • Perform a wider range of ultrasound examinations, including more complex or specialized imaging studies, this could involve imaging of specific organs or systems, such as obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, abdominal, cardiac, or musculoskeletal ultrasound
