About The Position

This advanced-level lead position is responsible for assisting in the routine coordination of clinical and non-clinical duty assignments to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services. The role serves adult, pediatric, and high-risk patient populations, aiding medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of complex conditions. Utilizing advanced professional knowledge, skills, and resources, the technician provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. This care is delivered in various settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and remote statewide outreach clinics.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty as defined by the ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI.
  • Five (5) years experience required as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technology professional.
  • Certified in Nuclear Medicine Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Skill in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Ability to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled.
  • Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Core to advanced-level knowledge and understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology; cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies and terminology associated with the primary and post-primary specialties for which hired and credentialed.
  • Ability and skill to precept and apply core to advanced-level theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, assign, coordinate and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments without direction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the competencies required to perform essential duties and responsibilities of a Level II position.
  • Utilizing advanced-level professional knowledge, abilities, skills and available resources, provides safe, high quality, efficient and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions in a variety of care settings to include, but not limited to: acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers and remote statewide outreach clinics.
  • Performs as a shift or team lead for inpatient and/or outpatient duty locations to augment or fill-in for leadership roles as needed to coordinate workflow and operations of an assigned service area.
  • Assists leadership with the development of clinical protocols and performance of image quality reviews as required, to maintain compliance with the accreditation standards required for the assigned specialty area.
  • Serves as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentor new or less experienced team members.
  • Audits and verifies post-study reviews to confirm that all required study elements are completed, documented, and that technical quality is consistent with established department protocols and/or applicable accreditation standards.
  • Coordinates operator and department-level quality control, safety and environment of care checks to maintain compliance with hospital, manufacturer, regulatory and accrediting entity standards.
  • Plans and leads continuing education, professional development and research activities to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvements in care and treatments.
  • Prepares, presents and coordinates in-service training pertinent to assigned service area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
