About The Position

We’re offering an exciting Level 2 Health Physics Monitor Apprenticeship at our Dungeness A Site in Kent where you’ll gain valuable qualifications, practical skills, and expert support, all while getting paid.
This Government-approved Level 2 Nuclear Health Physics Monitor Apprenticeship gives you a solid foundation in the nuclear industry with a focus on radiation protection and contamination control.
The programme includes:
Block release studying at MTC Training – Oxfordshire Advanced Skills Culham Campus
On-the-job experience at your allocated NRS site
Mentoring from experienced Health Physics professionals
Training in real-world nuclear environments where safety is paramount

Requirements

• Be 18 or older by 3rd August 2026
• Have 5 GCSEs (grades 9–3 / A–D) including Maths and Science
• Enthusiasm for science and nuclear safety
• A meticulous and detail-focused mindset
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• A willingness to learn in a technical environment

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring radiation dose rates and contamination levels
• Use technical instruments to take readings and record findings
• Support contamination control and safety checks on-site
• Learn about nuclear regulations and industry safety protocols
• Work collaboratively within a safety-critical team environment
