About The Position

Join Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) and become part of the team helping to safely decommission and restore nuclear sites across the UK.

We’re offering a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, specialising in Electrical Engineering, based at our Berkeley site in Gloucestershire — where you’ll gain nationally recognised qualifications, hands-on experience, and expert support, all while earning a salary.

This Government-approved Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship provides in-depth training in Electrical Engineering – a vital area of the nuclear industry focused on the installation, maintenance, and testing of complex electrical systems and equipment. The programme includes:

Block release study
On-the-job learning at the NRS Berkeley site
Training in a safety-critical nuclear environment
Mentorship from experienced nuclear engineers and technical staff

Requirements

• Be 18 or older by 3rd August 2026
• Have 5 GCSEs (grades 9–4 / A–C) including Maths, English, and Science
• OR have completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship
• A passion for science, safety, hands-on learning and Nuclear Safety
• Great attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Teamwork and communication abilities
• A proactive and positive attitude

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
• Support testing and fault-finding on electrical circuits and equipment
• Carry out inspections and ensure compliance with electrical safety standards
• Work with wiring, motors, control panels, switchgear, and distribution systems
• Operate safely in highly regulated environments following strict procedures
