About The Position

The NSI P1 Tool Maker A plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools and dies used in production. This position ensures that all tooling meets exact specifications to support efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations. The Tool Maker will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing workflow. Attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards are paramount to success in this role. Ultimately, the Tool Maker contributes to the overall productivity and product excellence of the organization by delivering reliable and precise tooling solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited tool making apprenticeship or equivalent experience in tool and die making.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in tool making, machining, or a related field.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify tooling needs and develop solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Use a variety of machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to produce high-quality tooling components.
  • Inspect finished tools for accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments and make necessary corrections.
  • Maintain detailed records of tooling work, including modifications, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
