About The Position

We have a career opportunity for a driven, detail-oriented Project Engineer to own New Product Introduction (NPI) activities related to our pump product lines. In this role, you will take ownership of guiding a team in prioritization, organizing tasks, defining roles, maintaining records, and assisting in designing new pumps. You will collaborate well, maintaining clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders and leadership at Collins. You will demonstrate leadership behaviors including taking initiative, driving results, and delivering effective feedback, which are essential for success in this challenging and rewarding opportunity. The ideal candidate will read and interpret technical drawings, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure internal processes are followed to maintain project efficiency and reduce engineering errors. You will be a key liaison between engineering, supply chain, producibility, and production teams to drive collaboration and timely completion of new projects.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

  • Mechanical or Systems Engineering Degree
  • Experience in a production role supporting aerospace rotating equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical hardware

Responsibilities

  • Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
  • Assist in efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction.
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Assist in technical support for piece part supplier change verification.
  • Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate between project management and planning, project teams, and production line management as necessary to support plant output.
  • Support less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
  • Understand, help write, improve, and execute test procedures.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report out test results.
  • Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering setbacks.
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing releases.
  • Develop disposition and substantiation for stocked and delivered hardware.
  • Coordinate the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
  • Help estimate and track project budget and schedule utilizing EVMS decision making.
