About The Position

Join Halo Industries, a company founded in 2014 and supported by significant funding as of 2024, that is transforming the semiconductor industry with innovative laser technology. The company focuses on creating efficient solutions that dramatically reduce waste and improve material performance across various sectors such as automotive, telecommunications, and power electronics. The NPI engineering intern supports senior level engineers with the design, building, testing and documentation of mechanical systems, components, or tooling. The NPI team is responsible for transitioning new product designs from the development phase to pilot manufacturing, ensuring manufacturability, quality, manufacturing process testing, and successful launch of these complex machines. This role is at the intersection of design and manufacturing and therefore involves collaboration with design, manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams to proactively identify potential issues, develop solutions, and implement processes for a smooth New Product Introduction (NPI) and timely delivery of complex machines.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical aptitude, and hands-on mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and update 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Assist with creating Bill of Materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), technical reports, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Support the engineering team with prototype builds.
  • Design and order tooling/fixtures for assembly process during proto-type stage.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for process and product failures.
  • Support review and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into Pilot Manufacturing.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve cost, efficiency, and quality.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, electrical, quality, supply chain.
  • Support machine build and test work flows, plus: Warehouse operations, e.g., kitting of materials for work orders, Product record maintenance (SolidWorks, Arena PLM, procedures), Quality Control
  • Use structured analysis methods to find root causes and verify solutions.
