As our NPI Buyer, you are responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services required to support new product launches. This role partners with engineering, product development, quality, and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality procurement aligned with project timelines and business objectives.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of purchasing or sourcing experience, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Experience supporting new product introductions is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Epicor or like ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, and production planning) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Teams), Smartsheet, Tableau, and other planning tools as available.
  • Proactive change agent to build and maintain a team-oriented environment.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
  • Strong negotiation and cost analysis skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management / Purchasing / Business
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, kanban, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure components, raw materials, tooling, and services for new product development projects
  • Support prototype, pilot, and pre-production builds
  • Manage RFQs, cost models, and supplier negotiations for new products
  • Ensure materials meet technical, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers with the guidance of internal sourcing team to support NPD initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal sourcing group on design-for-cost, manufacturability, and lead-time optimization
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and manage performance during development phases
  • Develop and manage target costs for new products
  • Track and report cost variances versus budgets
  • Ensure materials are delivered on time to meet development and launch schedules
  • Work closely with Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams
  • Participate in NPD phase-gate reviews and design reviews
  • Support change management (ECOs) during development
  • Maintain accurate BOMs, pricing, lead times, and supplier data in ERP/MRP systems
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and procedures
