NP/PA INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

About The Position

The Radiology Advanced Practice Provider (Radiology APP) is a licensed NP or PA-C employed in Fluoroscopic and Interventional Radiology (IR) will be trained and expected to perform a combination of various gastrointestinal and genitourinary fluoroscopy studies, diagnostic and therapeutic arthrograms, lumbar punctures, myelograms, CT guided bone marrow biopsies, nuclear medicine injections, paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures, chest tubes, central lines/ports and Aspira drains. Additional training will be required for the. Radiology APP to perform pediatric fluoroscopy. The Radiology APP will provide IR directed patient care including pre/post procedural evaluation and consultation The Radiology APP demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. The Radiology APP will function in a supervised and independent capacity with the Covenant HealthCare physician team. Supervision, where necessary, will be provided by the practices designated supervising physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited institution,
  • Current Licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as a Nurse Practitioner. Continuing medical education as required by the certification body.
  • ACLS and/or BLS certification required.
  • Two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant or previous experience as an RN within the practice specialty.
  • Limited Scope x-ray equipment operators must have or acquire 40 hours of training in their scope of practice.
  • Knowledge in the specialty of the practice for which the position is posted is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Covenant systems, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, administration of medications and treatments, delivery of care and documentation of care.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and applications.
  • Knowledge of medical practices, terminology, billing and reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Computer literate, must be able to work with an EMR system while providing patient care.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain a wide variety of internal and external cooperative working relationships.
  • Analytical skills necessary to plan, develop, and administer care to a wide variety of patients.
  • Ability to assess and treat patients with limited history and background in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Respond calmly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Make decisions within scope of training and practice.
  • Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform image guided procedures such as fluoroscopy procedures, lumbar punctures/myelograms, paracentesis, thoracentesis, arthrocentesis, drain and central venous catheter placement and removal as well as nuclear medicine injections, under the guidance of a physician.
  • Provide IR directed patient care including pre- and post-procedural evaluations and consults.
  • Interpret and maintain accurate patient care records.
  • Communicates and escalates clinical situations to IR physician while also collaborating with other specialty services involved in patients care.
  • Train and mentor oncoming staff, medical students or residents as Covenant Health is a teaching and learning inUtitution.
  • Assist with being part of a dynamic and collaborative team by developing protocols and researching requested information.
  • Collaborate with medical students, residents, and attending physicians.
  • Refers patients to appropriate specialists, health facilities, agencies and resources.
  • Collaborates with appropriate consultants regarding patient management.
  • Assist other midlevel providers and physicians in the provision of general medical care to our clients.
  • Participate in on-call as determined by department needs.
  • Directs regulatory activities in compliance with CLIA, HFAP, OSHA, EMTALA, and Corporate Compliance/Covenant guidelines.
  • Work with department Administration in developing clinical protocols for practice.
  • Timely coding and documentation of services provided.
  • Maintains a professional, courteous and compassionate approach to patients and staff.
  • Act as a liaison and attend meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.
