This is a full time 40-hour role and will include both inpatient and outpatient clinical work. The Interventional Pulmonology Advanced Practice Provider works in collaboration with a group of physicians who specialize in the management of complex airway and pleural diseases. Interventional Pulmonology offers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to aid in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lung. In general, the APP exercises autonomy in medical decision-making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult patients with a variety of pulmonary disorders. This may include managing patients with complex, acute, critical and chronic pulmonary conditions. In addition, the individual collects and assists in the interpretation of reports from diagnostic and laboratory tests, radiographic procedures and clinical studies. The position typically analyzes, compares and evaluates various courses of action and has the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Nursing required
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - MA
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner 0-1 year preferred
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
