About The Position

Northfield Hospital + Clinics is an independent health care organization providing a wide range of healthcare services to patients throughout the Twin Cities south metro and southern Minnesota for over 115 years. Northfield Hospital Foundation is a newly formed organization that supports the work and mission of Northfield Hospital. The foundation’s role is to raise awareness about the good work that Northfield Hospital + Clinics does and to support the needs of our patients and staff through donor gifts. If you are interested in learning more about what it takes to start a small business, gain hands-on experience, and support a non-profit, come join us as our foundation intern. If you are going to college for Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business or have an interest in Event Planning, and would like to gain experience, you'll want to consider this position! We are interested in your creativity, ideas and your perspective as a young professional.

Requirements

  • Current St. Olaf student
  • Skills in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, follow instructions, and work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Solid attention to detail, organizational skills, flexibility and customer service
  • Learns quickly
  • Ability to interact well with all kinds of people
  • All staff and interns are required to provide health screening information that includes TB screen and immunization check. Annual flu vaccine is required.
  • Background check with fingerprints and photo.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Business, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or interest in event planning

Responsibilities

  • Events: Brainstorm ideas, Help with event planning and day of event, Create event timelines, Secure vendors
  • Marketing Help: Help with monthly newsletters, Write stories, Write social media posts
  • Database work: Data entry, Data clean up, Create invite lists, Assist with Bloomerang database software
  • Research: Research other foundations, Research other events, Research donors, Research grants
  • Writing: Letters, Donor stories, Write grant applications
  • Meetings: Attend foundation board meetings, Attend meetings as needed
  • Budget and expenses
  • Build community awareness for the foundation
