Responsibilities PJT Partners seeks to hire an experienced finance leader into the finance department with robust technical accounting skills, proven ability to run a high quality close and reporting process, leadership acumen to manage teams and collaborate across the Firm. This role provides an opportunity to interact with members of the firm across each of our lines of business and will have the latitude to contribute controllership expertise across the breadth of the finance function.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in an accounting-related field including management experience of accounting functions.
  • Experience in managing equity compensation and strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements related to stock-based compensation
  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proven track record of handing stakeholder relationships and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Experience with establishing and reviewing internal control procedures and leading initiatives to ensure the integrity of reported financial results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the North America corporate accounting team managing monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close process.
  • Manage general ledger integrity, review of journal entries and reconciliations, accurate intercompany eliminations and consolidation of multiple entity results, and monthly financial data and analytics reviews
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting system (Workday) and general ledger structure and maintain strong internal controls over the financial close and reporting processes
  • Review and validate footnote disclosure data and manage relationships with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Lead Global equity compensation accounting team who support equity accounting and manage all aspects of administrating our stock-based and deferred compensation plans for global employees; Responsible for the accounting and reporting of all deferred (including stock) compensation expenses and EPS calculations, including all public disclosures (10Q, 10K, Proxy, Investor Presentations)
  • Maintain the firms share counts; GAAP Basic and Diluted (including Treasury Stock Method) and voting share counts
  • Maintain and enhance the firms ASC 718 and ASC 260 Accounting Policy, and build out Local GAAP (non-US) accounting policies, in partnership with the accounting policy team
  • Work closely with HR on plan design, administration and employee communications.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders reliant on detailed reporting (Tax, FPA, Compliance, Corporate Secretary)
  • Lead the team that administers deferred compensation including all employee and third party communications
  • Drive strategic process change and enhancements to streamline the close and reporting process by partnering with the broader finance team, and our Technology partners.
  • Mentor and lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to speak confidently and credibly in front of internal and external clients at all levels.
  • Demonstration of a high level of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
