The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering ( MAE ) at Rutgers is a leading engineering program with state-of-the-art laboratories and close relations with local industry. The department has more than 40 full-time faculty with more than 1,100 undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Packaging Engineering and more than 200 graduate students. The department is home to the New Jersey Advanced Manufacturing Initiative that engages with industry on AI, advanced manufacturing, and workforce development.
