About The Position

Cogent Security LLC seeks an energetic, detail-oriented candidate to support the Office of Non-Proliferation & Arms Control (NPAC) within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage relationships at the headquarters and field-offices. Detailed duties and responsibilities will include: Manage and Prioritize Tasks : Evaluate incoming tasks using expertise in international nuclear safeguards, export control, verification, and civil nuclear cooperation to identify relevant programs. Draft initial responses using approved language when available, coordinate with program offices for input or review, and follow up to meet deadlines. Edit responses for consistency with NPAC messaging and strategy, and facilitate leadership review before submission. Improve Task Tracking Processes : Develop and propose enhancements to systems and procedures for managing high-volume daily tasks. Implement approved improvements, create standard operating procedures, and regularly communicate updates to relevant staff to maintain efficiency. Enhance NPAC Messaging and Outreach : Ensure consistent NPAC messaging in all task responses by developing methods to organize and archive completed actions for efficient reuse in similar tasks. Serve as the liaison between NPAC program offices, the Outreach Team, and Public Affairs to boost visibility, attending monthly meetings and identifying opportunities to promote programmatic events. Participate in strategic planning and program review meetings, documenting, tracking, and facilitating the completion of resulting action items. Coordinate High-Level Meetings : Act as the NPAC liaison for senior-level meetings and briefings. Prepare timely background materials, talking points, and policy papers as needed. Create or assist in creating briefings, background papers, and talking points for NPAC, NNSA, and DOE senior leadership meetings and trips. Manage Internal Meeting Logistics : Support or lead the preparation for internal meetings by scheduling, developing agendas, preparing briefings, booking conference rooms, and maintaining an organized filing system. Track action items and follow up to ensure completion. Provide Surge Support : Assist NPAC staff with additional tasks as needed, beyond primary responsibilities, to address workload spikes. Perform Additional Duties : Complete other tasks as assigned to support NPAC objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • DOE Q clearance - current and active, or ability to obtain a Q clearance
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be self-motivated, proactive, and solution-oriented
  • Ability to manage the workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed short turnaround deadlines
  • Experience working collaboratively with senior management
  • Time management, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • DOE Q clearance - current and active (DoD Top Secret clearance is also acceptable)
  • Minimum 5 -10 years professional experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of nonproliferation and arms control activities and approaches
  • Experience as an Action Officer in a Front Office environment
