About The Position

Phoenix is looking for interns to learn, support and analyze Radiography operations utilizing a state-of-the-art Dual Energy Neutron Radiography system. Interns assist all aspects of Phoenix Operations focusing on accelerator operations but also including optimizing other facets of Phoenix Radiographic Operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required, enrollment in college is preferred.
  • Interest in science, physics, electronics, and/or mechanics.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, and ability to work effectively with all levels of management, technical, engineering, and scientific staff.
  • Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Learning all aspects of accelerator operations including operating, maintenance and repairs support coupled with operating data collection and trend analysis to drive 99.5% machine uptime.
  • Review and redesign legacy fixtures to optimize touch time for common high total touch time customer parts.
  • Learn other SHINE accelerator systems to broaden your knowledge base and support surge operations for NDAS operations.
  • Provide support for active Business Development work led by Dr. Martin Wissink.
  • Any additional tasks that align with Phoenix’s 2026 operational priorities around scaling throughput and strengthening execution and maintain strong KPIs.
