About The Position

Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting. Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history. Perform visual acuity. Perform diagnostic testing under the supervison of physicians and techs. These tests include visual field testing, keratometry, pachymetry, intraocular pressure check. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers. Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly. Scribing for Physician. Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • Basic understanding of contact lens usage. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work independently in a high stress environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency)
  • Use of general office equipment, including telephone, pager, and fax machines. Basic computer skills. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience in an Health care environment. (Preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire (Preferred)
