The primary function of a Registered Non-CDL Bus Driver is to safely and competently operate a school bus for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and school sponsored activities on a daily basis. This involves ensuring all children arrive at school and are returned safely and promptly by only stopping at designated stops, and that students are only dropped off at their regular designated (or parent requested) stop or at school. The driver must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality, arriving and checking in prior to scheduled departure times and leaving at the appointed time to arrive at each stop as scheduled. They are responsible for transporting only authorized children and adult sponsors to and from school sponsored events, appointing assigned seats to students to ensure knowledge of who is on board the bus at all times, and acknowledging students by name and addressing them cordially. The driver must treat all children in a civil manner, instruct students on bus safety rules, and enforce transportation student discipline procedures. Additional duties include attending periodic meetings, keeping the bus clean inside and outside, thoroughly cleaning the bus at the end of each school year, and informing maintenance mechanics of needed repairs and developing mechanical problems.
