This position is a grade 110- Non-exempt. Salary placement range DOE: $18.59 to $22.07 per hour. Summary: Drives a regular and/or specialized school vehicle of limited length (<27 feet LOA) and capacity including those containing special features and equipment to assist students having mobility and other access problems over designated and special routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school, special trips, and events. This does not include any vehicle requiring a CDL Class B license to operate. Distinguishing Career Features: Drivers are an important part of the District's student transportation services encompassing regularly scheduled routes and dispatched services. This level requires the ability to adequately drive and handle all aspects of a small passenger vehicle of 27 or less feet in length and not requiring a commercial Class A or B certification. All levels of Drivers must complete special coursework, behind-the-wheel observation/training and attain licenses required by the State. Advancement opportunities exist beyond Driver, as incumbents can take additional training, develop special competencies, and become authorized and certified to deliver behind-the-wheel training, instructing, dispatching, or route analysis.
