About The Position

The NMAMA Inclusion Educational Assistant supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities in general education classrooms. Working under the direction of special education and general education teachers, this role helps implement accommodations, modifications, and support strategies to promote inclusive learning and student success.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience working with middle or high school students and/or students with disabilities
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Ability to follow teacher directions and adapt to diverse student needs
Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to inclusive education
Ability to maintain student confidentiality and act with professionalism

Nice To Haves

Associate's or higher degree preferred

Responsibilities

Provide direct support to students with IEPs in inclusive classrooms and school settings
Assist with instructional tasks, including reading, writing, note-taking, and class participation
Reinforce lessons and help implement behavior support plans as directed by teachers
Support students during group work, independent tasks, tests, and transitions
Help foster student independence, self-advocacy, and peer interaction
Maintain confidentiality and follow all school and special education policies
Collaborate with teachers and service providers to share observations and support strategies
Supervise students in various settings (e.g., classrooms, hallways, lunch, or school events) as needed
Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities
Attend a minimum of 3 out of school functions, one of which must be graduation
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Principal
