About The Position

Scope: Working cell leader who, in addition to helping with the day to day assignments as part of running the fabrication department, will also, when needed, operate Punch, Laser or Press Brakes. Is also responsible for assisting supervisor with daily work assignments and directing employees who report to production supervisor within the fabrication department. Additional work area assignments may apply. Essential Duties: Work from drawings, prints, following best practices and utilizing work instructions to process all fabricated parts through the fabrication department. Will use a variety of other machines along with hand and power tools as needed to accomplish work assignments. Lead morning Tier Meetings with their direct reports in assigned areas of responsibility. Update Production Tier Boards and provide updates to the team members at our daily 9:10 AM Tier Meetings as required by the fabrication supervisor. Ensure scheduled orders are processed per the production schedule to meet downstream customer’s delivery dates. Direct and assist fabrication department employees with daily work assignments. Assist supervisor with skills and knowledge development of existing and new employees. Ensure daily labor is entered and in-process check sheets are completed as required. Responsible for safety awareness and enforcement of safety practices (including the use of PPE). Complete quality assurance inspection and in-process paperwork as required. Maintain safe, and organized work area. Notify supervisor or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation. Other Duties: Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements. Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Tools and Equipment: Use hand tools, tape measure, calipers, angles, cranes, forklift, square, carts, pallets, computer, laser cutting machine, press brakes, punches, shear, pneumatic tools, and protective devices. Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses – ANSI Z87.1 Gloves – ANSI Cut 3 4544 Foot Protection, Steel Toe – ASTM F2413-11 Physical Demand: Heavy (Lifting 75 lbs. Frequently & Climbing). Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, lift, grasp, and reach.
