About The Position

UPMC Hamot is seeking a Night Shift Pharmacist to play a critical role in patient safety, reliability, and overnight operations. This full-time position offers a true 7-on / 7-off schedule, providing predictable time off for work-life balance, professional development, or personal pursuits. Serving a high-acuity environment—including ICU, ED, NICU, oncology, and complex med-surg—you’ll sharpen your clinical judgment while collaborating across the UPMC North Region. In this role, there is opportunity to -
Provide safe, effective, and timely pharmacotherapy across inpatient care areas.
Interpret, verify, and clarify medication orders in compliance with regulatory standards.
Apply strong clinical judgment to triage priorities and escalate safety concerns.
Monitor for allergies, interactions, duplications, and adverse drug events.
Promote formulary adherence and therapeutic interchange best practices.
Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile IV admixtures, using aseptic technique.
Leverage Epic and pharmacy technologies to support standardized workflows.
Collaborate with nursing, providers, and technicians to ensure reliable overnight operations.
Supervise and support technicians and learners during night-shift activities.
Deliver drug information and clinical guidance to the healthcare team.
Support quality, safety, and compliance initiatives to reduce medication risk.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance handoffs and morning readiness.

Requirements

• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
• B.S in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
• Entry Level - no previous experience required; pharmacist experience preferred.
