About The Position

Serving the public with parks, trails and recreation is important to Central Oregon residents and visitors, and this position is part of a team responsible for high-quality experiences. About the job: A successful day starts with preparation and the night before has a big impact. The Night Custodian will perform custodial and sanitation duties to provide clean and sanitary facilities for the district and general public. This position may also perform small building maintenance duties. A day in the life: Perform cleaning, janitorial and sanitation duties on assigned facilities, including refilling supplies in restrooms. Organize, maintain and recommend purchases for janitorial equipment and supplies. Assist in determining cleaning needs and modifying janitorial and sanitation schedule. Provide direction and support to new custodial staff. Sweep and/or power wash pool decks. Monitor equipment and facilities for required maintenance; performs routine maintenance, including unclogging sinks, drains, and toilets; submits work order requests for necessary repairs. Maintains floors including stripping, waxing, polishing, buffing or burnishing finished floors. Clean and report graffiti, vandalism and other incidents. Arrange classroom and meeting room furniture, including setting up and taking down equipment, supplies, tables and chairs. Schedule: Weekdays, Weekends and/or Holidays Benefited Positions. 5 days per week-11:00 PM-4:00 AM (25hrs/week) Location: The Pavilion This position includes a 5% work shift differential for compensation.

Requirements

  • Strong Knowledge of : Cleaning and sanitation requirements at a public facility; Common cleaning equipment, tools, materials, and supplies needed for custodian work; Routine custodian practices and methods, including safety procedures, proper handling, operation and maintenance of equipment, and basic building safety tasks; Principles and practices of customer service; Safe and effective use and application of cleaning agents and solvents.
  • Skill and Ability to: Safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment and tools; Take direction and perform task with minimal supervision; Prioritize tasks and perform a full range of assigned janitorial duties in a fast-paced environment; Identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions; Demonstrate a high attention to detail; Effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing; Use active listening and interpersonal skills to mitigate conflict; Work cooperatively with others; and Create a positive, constructive and respectful relationship with staff and the general public.
  • Education, Experience, and Training: 1. High school graduation or equivalency; AND 2. Some previous janitorial or custodial work experience preferred; OR 3. Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.
  • This position may require reporting to additional sites throughout the workday, typically achieved in a motor vehicle OR other modes of transportation. If choosing a personal vehicle, possession of, or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy. If you do not have a driver’s license or have an unacceptable driving history, it does not disqualify you from this position, only from driving a vehicle for district business.
