Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on-one customer interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and resolve customer complaints, escalating to the Store Director as needed.
  • Assist with planning nightly operations and monitor production processes according to company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Build grocery displays, rotate product, and remove outdated or spoiled items.
  • Ensure shelves are correctly priced, fully stocked, clean, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the work area and department.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Assist with coordinating grocery sales promotions.
  • Follow and maintain all department standards and requirements.
  • Ensure proper code dating procedures are enforced for all products in the department.
  • Monitor employee productivity and performance.
  • Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including Opening/Closing, Dairy, and Frozen.
  • Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train staff on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Control inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness according to division directives.
  • Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness and availability.
  • Supervise processing of reclamation and maintain organized, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Grocery Department areas.
  • Assist with physical inventory conducted every six months.
  • Control shrink and manage costs through proper product handling and rotation.
  • Perform receiving duties including: Breaking down loads Verifying orders using invoices Inspecting product quality Reporting shortages Stocking and rotating product
  • Follow product temperature and storage guidelines and adhere to proper packaging techniques.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Ensure proper temperature levels for all products.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company policies, and code dating requirements.
  • Safely use and operate equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
