About The Position

The NICU Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care to neonatal patients in a critical care environment. This role involves performing patient assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, assisting physicians, and ensuring high-quality care for critically ill newborns.

Requirements

• Active Respiratory Therapist License – North Dakota State Board
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
• PALS (AHA) – Required
• NRP Certification – Required
• Experience in NICU / Neonatal Critical Care preferred
• Strong clinical, communication, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, evaluations, and ongoing monitoring of neonatal patients
• Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatments
• Assist physicians with procedures and respiratory interventions
• Identify and respond to significant changes in patient condition
• Educate and support families regarding respiratory care and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems
• Perform pain assessments and implement appropriate interventions
• Handle respiratory equipment maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks
• Process patient charges and verify reports as required
• Participate in neonatal transport, ensuring safe transfer between facilities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
