The Neonatal ICU (NICU) provides the highest quality, family-centered treatment to ill neonate and extremely low birth weight infants, including advanced respiratory care, high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide. As an RN, you serve as an essential support person in the NICU. In this role, you will interact directly with babies, their families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance the healing experience and supply loved ones with essential healthcare information. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year experience in an acute care hospital setting OR Licensed military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Adult ICU or Medical/Surgical experience
  • NICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to neonates in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
