Organization: CPMC-California Pacific Med Center Van Ness Position Overview: Oversees, organizes and coordinates the overall operation of Respiratory Care, including staffing and work assignments of Respiratory Therapists, assistants and interns. Directs, implements and updates policies, procedures and protocols to streamline workflow, improve efficiency, and strengthen quality assurance. Ensures the timely delivery of accurate respiratory care and oversees the efficient maintenance and operation of all respiratory equipment. Serves as the liaison between Respiratory Care and staff, physicians, patients, family and other hospital staff. Routinely performs all duties of a Respiratory Therapist, as needed. Ensures respiratory care is provided in a manner consistent with best practices, accreditation standards and State and Federal regulations. Job Description: EDUCATION: Other: Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 8 years recent relevant experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated expertise in respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including significant experience responding to traumas, code blues, resuscitations and various hospital emergencies. Skilled in performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as an in-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Demonstrated familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation standards. Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline Broad knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC. Prioritize and delegate assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve department objectives and meet deadlines. Work autonomously, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Identify, evaluate and resolve complex that arise with little or no precedent. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. Function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider
  • RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
