About The Position

Purpose of Position: Under the New Truck Manager, the New Truck Salesman is responsible for sales of New & Used Trucks and Trailers in an assigned territory or account within the dealer Area of Responsibility (AOR). Other duties may be assigned as listed job duties are not comprehensive and should not be construed as such. This job description is subject to change.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL and DOT Medical Card.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
  • One or two years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clean MVR Record

Responsibilities

  • Sells new and used equipment in assigned territory.
  • Demonstrates technical selling skills and product knowledge.
  • Promotes other dealer offerings such as parts and service, finance and insurance.
  • Understands pricing and proposal models and creates effective proposal presentations and RFP responses.
  • Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling, direct mail, email and networking as it relates to the AOR.
  • Completes required Freightliner certifications and training courses.
  • Implements company marketing plans.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities.
