Klarman 9, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, is currently hiring a patient-focused, compassionate RN with a passion for providing exceptional care to those they serve in our Cardiology Medicine Unit! Our Cardiology Medicine unit, KM9, is staffed with safe, compassionate and engaged team members. You will become part of a team committed to high quality holistic nursing care which truly impacts the lives of many with cardiac disease. Farr 5 specializes in caring for high acuity patients with cardiac disease, including heart failure, chest pain and arrhythmias, who may undergo specialized structural heart procedures and/or diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. As an RN in this department you will evaluate, plan, implement and document nursing care for an assigned cardiac medicine patient population. You will work collaboratively with the cardiac team members, fellow nursing staff and leadership to provide safe and effective care. You will promote the patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, educating patients and families about conditions and medications, as well as developing safe discharge plans. The unit has 32 beds and 32 rooms, with a typical RN to patient ratio of 1:4 during days and 1:5 during nights. The unit is located in a new inpatient building, a state-of-the-art patient care environment designed to optimize the experience for patients and providers, including a rooftop healing garden. The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced job, uses critical thinking, and has a passion for providing excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • License Registered Nurse required.
  • Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
  • Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
  • Ability to address problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents.
  • Ability to follow precedents and procedures. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
  • Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.

Responsibilities
