New Graduate/Nurse I (Inpatient Units - Various Openings)
About The Position
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking Graduate Nurses to join our Inpatient Nursing teams across a variety of units and shifts. This is an excellent opportunity to begin or advance your nursing career in a nationally respected, leading‑edge oncology environment. The Nurse I provides patient care, health teaching, and health counseling in an oncology setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other licensed independent provider. To support safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care, our inpatient units maintain the following staffing levels: Day Shift: 4 patients per nurse Night Shift: 5 patients per nurse The bedside nursing team operates across units with a total of 160 beds.
Requirements
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and prior experience working in a nursing home, psychiatric facility or other sub-acute facility
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
- Supporting individualized patient care to help patients adapt to their diagnosis and achieve the highest level of wellness
- Performing routine nursing care procedures
- Completing patient screening and venipuncture
- Monitoring plateletpheresis and whole blood donor procedures
- Ensuring donor and product safety in compliance with State and Federal regulations
- Participating in ongoing professional development through educational programs, workshops, and in‑service training
