About The Position

Lunder 9 is an inpatient 32-bed hematology oncology unit with private patient rooms. The patient population consists of acute medical oncology patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and solid tumor cancers, requiring complex oncology care including chemotherapy, biotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy, proton therapy, and palliative care. The unit focuses on managing symptoms, side effects, or complications related to disease or treatment, emphasizing patient-centered, relationship-based care, pain management, emotional and spiritual support, patient and family education, palliative care, and end-of-life care. The Lunder 9 team values teamwork and collaboration. Registered Nurses are responsible for ensuring competent, compassionate, individualized nursing care for patients and families, including delegation to and supervision of non-professional clinical and support staff. They collaborate with the Nursing Director and Patient Care Team to achieve optimal patient outcomes and work with patients to meet their needs and expectations. Registered Nurses ensure care is safe, holistic, efficient, effective, timely, and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family. Opportunities for practice advancement include Resource Nurse, preceptor, and participation in Collaborative Governance Committees and Research projects to guide Evidence-Based Practice. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Proficient knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Patient Care Associate or Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Hospital or managed care experience 0-1 year preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assure competent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care for specific patients and families, including delegation to and supervision of non-professional clinical and support staff.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Director and members of the Patient Care Team to achieve optimal Patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the patient toward meeting the needs and expectations of the patient and family.
  • Ensure that care is safe, holistic, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and assist in treatments and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and post-care instructions.
  • Uphold infection control measures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
  • Respond efficiently and effectively to emergent situations, demonstrating sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
