About The Position

The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant is responsible for delivering care to patients admitted to Neurosurgery at Chandler Regional Medical Center. Provides patient care within the scope of practice Obtains medical history, performs physical examinations, formulates differential diagnosis and establishes a treatment plan in collaboration with the treating physician and nursing staff. Orders and interprets laboratory and other diagnostic tests within scope of practice. Writes orders and prescribes medications, including controlled substances. Instructs and counsels patients and their family regarding the diagnosis, treatment plan and medications. Makes referrals to ancillary departments and outside agencies. Formulates discharge plan and works in collaboration with case management to ensure safe, timely discharge. Writes discharge prescriptions and educates patients on medications. Completes hospital and department documentation legibly, accurately and within designated timeframe. Works in collaboration with sponsoring physician, case management and staff nurses to provide patient care. Complies with legal restrictions regarding lines of authority, supervision and communication. Acts as a liaison between physicians, nursing departments, ancillary staff on behalf of patients and their families

Requirements

  • Background in pre-med
  • Degree as a Physician Assistant
  • Physician Assistant ARCEPA
  • 3 years clinical experience
  • DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration-Control Sub Reg Cert: AZ
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Physician Assistant: AZ
  • Credentialed as allied health professional with CRMC and MGMC
