About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technician, under general supervision, will perform electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), and Autonomic testing (Sweat resting, Heart rate response to Deep Breathing/ HR, BP response to Valsalva and assist with EMG and tilt table testing) using proper techniques for placing and attaching the electrodes and for positioning the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Performs brain-stem auditory evoked response (BAER)
  • performs somatosensory evoked potential (SEP)
  • perform electroencephalogram (EEG) testing in an ambulatory setting
  • Adapts methods for instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on patient history, clinical observations, and test findings.
  • Ensure all ordered procedures are completed in an organized, efficient manner.
  • Interprets wave characteristics accurately during each test to detect evidence of brain disorders or nerve disorders and provides interpretations to the Neurologist/provider timely.
  • Monitors and records patient's reaction to specific activities such as breathing direction or the introduction of various stimuli, in a thorough and accurate manager.
  • Work with the scope of the American Society of EEG Technology guidelines while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operates and stores EEG equipment, take pertinent patient history and integrates all aspects of care for all age ranges including neonate, infact, child and adolescents (adult/geriatrics when necessary).
  • Cleans and maintains equipment in good operating condition.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repair lab equipment as needed and promptly reports major repairs to site manager.
  • Performs Nerve conduction studies and Autonomic testing (Sweat resting, Heart rate response to Deep Breathing/ HR and BP response to Valsalva).
  • Assists physicians with electromyography (EMG) by attaching electrodes to patients and assists provider with Tilt table testing.
  • Reviews patients' medical charts and explains procedures to patients and/or families.
  • May perform general maintenance on (EMG/NCS and Autonomic testing) equipment to include calibration and adjustments.
  • Maintains inventory and supplies for EMG/NCS and Autonomic testing.
  • Works collaboratively with providers, team and customers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
