About The Position

Working under general technical guidance, a Network Technician II will be responsible for the following functions/duties: Experience with implementation, testing and maintenance on network and telecom equipment and systems. Performs network field engineering assignments. Requires experience across different types of networking equipment and associated technologies. Strong understanding of WAN/LAN systems used to transmit voice, data and video across digital and fiber optic WAN/LAN infrastructure. Ability to implement solutions in accordance with commercial network standards. Experience with network layers 2/3 and TDM networking equipment. Experience with commercial carrier services and managing the system interconnects. Ability to manage, troubleshoot and repair physical logical network infrastructure. Perform other job-related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • Education and/or training from an accredited college or technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory, or a military equivalent and three (3) years of hands-on experience are required for this position.
  • International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in general electronics
  • Good understanding of electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems
  • Good understanding of test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment
  • Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power radio frequency (RF) devices
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot to the component level and competency in soldering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CISCO network equipment.
  • Experience with CIENA Optical Transport Network equipment.
