The New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board (NYCIRB) is a non-profit, unincorporated association of insurance carriers. NYCIRB is licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services as the official workers’ compensation rate service organization in the State. In this capacity, NYCIRB provides a variety of services to the workers’ compensation industry, including data collection and analysis, and the development of loss costs and rating values. These activities, along with analytical tools, research, and customer focused services, are intended to foster a stable and healthy workers’ compensation system in the State of New York. SUMMARY The Network Tech II will be part of a team that owns the development, maintenance and end-to-end support of the network servers, backbone, and desktop / laptop computers. These responsibilities include the support of: disaster recovery processes and procedures, local area network (LAN), Microsoft Windows Servers, storage area network (SAN), Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Cisco and Checkpoint switches and remote access devices, MS-Windows, third party software, and end user support for onsite and mobile users. Additional responsibilities may include managing and maintaining a VMware ESX server farm, MS-SQL servers, and cloud infrastructure. Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates information technology systems operations. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A Network Tech II installs, maintains and evaluates network systems and communications. Troubleshoots the network issues with diverse scope. Assists network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Must have extensive knowledge of Internet, computer, routers, switches, firewall, etc. Typically requires a bachelor's degree of computer science, or engineering or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
