About The Position

The Network Technican will work at customer locations, assisting with client specific projects to achieve optimum use of their networks by performing moves, adds, changes, fixes to hardware and software. This position will also provide technical expertise including analyzing, planning, configuring, maintaining and repairing network systems and application components as well as resolve network issues timely and accurately supporting internal and external user needs.

Requirements

  • Time Management, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Active pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other technology related field
  • Two years’ experience in client/server environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as organizational abilities throughout client interaction
  • Assist with installing hardware when required by client
  • Support planned and unplanned client facility power downs
  • Assist with escalating any identified problems or hazards associated with client moves, adds and changes, cabling installations and fault rectification
  • Ascertain the best possible solution for incidents including escalation
  • Use the client Incident Ticketing system (NIRD) and Change Control systems
  • Ensure all change and fault records are updated
  • Provide appropriate handovers to other CEs at shift end
  • Run patch cables between patch panels and switches as well as wall jacks and end user devices as required by client ticketing system
  • Update wireless documentation
  • Provide customer consultation on solutions
  • Develop and deliver professional proposals including design documentation
  • Locate and reads blueprints/auto-cad floor plans of client sites for network planning
  • Perform site walk throughs
  • Analyze, recommend, and evaluate new hardware, software, and communications products for network compatibility and applicability.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
